Two killed in 'Gunfight' in Kushtia
Two youths were killed in separate gunfight in Kushtia.
Police claimed that the deceased were drug dealers. One of them was identified. He is - Madan (45). He is a son of Rifaz Uddin of Jamalpur village on the border. There are more than 15 cases against him.
The 'gunfight' incident took place around 2pm on Tuesday at Sadar upazila's Kushurhat and Daulatpur Upazila's Muslimimnagar field.
Kushtia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nasir Uddin said that around 2:00 pm, there was a secret news about the miscreants in the city's Sadar upazila near Kubaharhat Madrasaapara Zee.
Based on this, a patrol team of police conducted an operation on the spot. Drug workers shot fired on police after seeing the presence of the police. Drug traffickers escaped when police fired in self defense.
Later, after searching the spot, one person was found in the Kushtia General Hospital and shot to death by the unknown doctor declared him dead.
Police could not confirm the identity of the deceased immediately.
Four policemen, including Kushtia Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Mostafiz, were injured in the incident.
One foreign pistol from the spot and three rounds of ammunition were recovered.
Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge of Daulpur Police Station Shah Dara Khan told that the police raided the spot after hearing about a gunfight between the miscreants of Dudal drug trader at Muslim Munnagar ground in Daulatpur upazila around 3pm. At the time, one person was taken to Daulatpur Hospital for rescue. The duty doctor declared the young man dead.
The deceased was identified as Madan (45). There are more than 15 cases against him. Police recovered three rounds of bullets, 900 pieces of Yaba and 30 bottles of Phensidyl from a local pistol.
