Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shobhan, president of the central committee of the ruling Awami League fraternity organization, has been removed from the post on charges of controversial activities. Al-Nahyan Khan Joy, the senior vice president of the organization, has been replaced by the acting president and senior joint secretary general secretary Bhattacharya.
Awami League joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak confirmed that the decision was made at a meeting of Awami League's central executive at Ganabhaban this evening.
According to Ganabhaban sources, President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury and general secretary Golam Rabbani have already submitted their resignations to the Awami League president and prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Jahangir Kabir Nanak said in the first light, the meeting made two major decisions. A decision is about the student body. Chhatra League's senior vice president Al Nahyan Khan Joy and senior joint general secretary Bhattacharya have been given the acting president and acting general secretary respectively till the next council of the organization. The second decision is about the Awami League council. The central council of the Awami League will be held on December 23 and 26.
