YTS: Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss quit new Star Wars trilogy
Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have called off their deal with Disney's Lucasfilm to make Star Wars trilogy, which was supposed to head to the theaters in 2022.

Earlier this year, Disney CEO Bob Iger had announced a collaboration between Disney’s Lucasfilm and Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for a Star Wars trilogy. But now, the deal is off. The GoT makers, who were aiming to release the first part of the trilogy in 2022, have called it quits due to their schedule.
As reported by Deadline, the duo said in a statement, “We love Star Wars. When George Lucas built it, he built us too. Getting to talk about Star Wars with him and the current Star Wars team was the thrill of a lifetime, and we will always be indebted to the saga that changed everything.”
They continued, “There are only so many hours in the day, and we felt we could not do justice to both Star Wars and our Netflix projects. So we are regretfully stepping away.”
Reacting to the statement from GoT makers, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said she hopes to include them in the Lucasfilm’s journey. “David Benioff and Dan Weiss are incredible storytellers. We hope to include them in the journey forward when they are able to step away from their busy schedule to focus on Star Wars,” she said in a statement read.
