Demand for stop showing Hasina's documentary

BNP has demanded to stop demonstrations in the theaters of 'Hasina: A Dutter's Tale', a documentary on the events of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's life.

Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday argued for this demand at a press conference that Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will be the candidate for the Eleventh Parliamentary election. In this documentary, their views on the history of the country, the political context and the shift of power are being published, which violates the Code of Conduct of Electoral Code.

'Hasina: A Dutter's Tale', a documentary on the unknown and unseen events of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's life, is going on in four theaters of Dhaka and Chittagong from Friday.

Beginning in 1952, with the family members coming to Dhaka, Sheikh Hasina's personal and political life has emerged in various documentary events.

On August 15, 1975, two sisters, Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana were killed abroad and all members of the family including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were killed. After returning home in 1981, after coming out of exile, losing the direction of Awami League, the party was returned to the orbit, the anti-autocratic movement, the Prime Minister elected by the people's vote, all things brought in the documentary.
Culture Minister Asaduzzaman Noor commented that this documentary is telling stories of life, struggle and courage. Seeing the documentary, many of the members of the political and cultural background will dare to inspire and motivate the younger generation.

However, criticizing the display of the theaters, BNP's main political opponent Rizvi said that the Prime Minister interviewed the party's nomination seekers at Ganobhaban by breaking '14' (2) section of the electoral code of conduct.

"Hasina: A Daughter's Tale" documentary film is being displayed in the capital's Star CinePlace, Blockbuster of Jamuna Future Park, Motijheel Madhumita Cinema Hall and Chittagong's Silver Screen.

"A candidate in the prime minister's election. Sheikh Hasina is a political personality, that is why her views on various events in history, political context, transformation of power, individual and political life experiences and her overall view of the country have been presented centrally, which is the highest violation of the code of conduct.
"The documentary film on Sheikh Hasina will be withdrawn from the movie theaters immediately."

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, "It is said here that no kind of promotion can be started before three weeks of polling. At the same time, under the 10 (e) section of the rules, there is no propagative statement for candidate's photo or candidate for election campaign. Is this documentary film not promotional? "

Describing the ban on the use of the poster in the electoral rules, he said, "There is no scope to strip the posters anywhere in the city corporation and municipal areas. However, the documentary film is being circulated in the city corporation area, in the form of a poster with posters containing pictures of Prime Minister at cinema halls.
"Even though this is done in spell-rattle, the Election Commission's role as silent spectator. This commission is completely silent. "

He also alleged that development activities of Sheikh Hasina were being displayed in large screen in different parts of the capital.

Rizvi said, demanding action against the Election Commission, "I would like to tell the Election Commission, take action according to the code of conduct, try to create a level playing field. Otherwise, that election will be ridiculed by the people.

This press conference was held at the central office of Naya Paltan. On Friday, Dhaka Metropolitan, Chittagong, Kushtia, Comilla and Jhenaidah demanded release of their detained leaders and workers in different places of the country including Rizvi.
The press conference was attended by the leaders of the party's adviser Zainul Abdin Faruk, Nazmul Haque Nannu, central leaders Ashrafuddin Bakul, Munir Hossain, Shahin Shawkat and others.
