A woman in Gazipur’s Kapasia has given birth to conjoined twins.
The mother, 'Ratna’, and the baby girls were well after their birth by caesarean section at a private hospital in the district on Sunday.
But the babies were sent to Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University hospital on request from the parents, doctor Hasanur Rahman Sohag of Shitalakkhya General Hospital told the media.
The doctor said he was hopeful about separation of the twins as such cases can be handled in Bangladesh now.
The babies are joined from abdomen to the upper part of chest.
Their father Masud Rana from Sripur Upazila works at a garment factory.
He has a 7-year-old daughter with Ratna.
“I have no idea how and where a surgery for the separation can be conducted. I don’t know how much money will be needed. It will be great if I get financial help,” Rana told bdnews24.com
